Continual Working Load (CWL) – this does not represent the maximum load that can be carried, but the load which we expect the trolley should be capable of carrying on a regular basis throughout its service life (under normal use and typical conditions). In other words, a trolley we rate at 250kg CWL won’t fall apart under a 251kg load. We would expect a 250kg CWL trolley, if treated well and maintained, to carry 250kg day in-day out for the expected lifetime of the unit. Within limits of safety, reason and good judgment, greater loads can be carried less frequently without fear of significantly reducing the service life of the trolley. This does not apply to loads being dropped out of trucks, over gutters, etc – shock loads and impact are the leading cause of damage to this type of equipment. As a competent user of what is a necessary tool for your trade we encourage you to always consider safety first and never attempt to move a load that is bigger or heavier than you feel you can manage.
It is not unusual for our equipment to be able to handle more load than it’s operator can!
